The present thesis is the collection of the studies carried out at the Laboratory of Interface Materials, Graduate School of Science and Technology, Department of Materials and Life Science, Kyoto Institute of Technology during 2010-2013 under the direction of Professor Tokuzo Kawase, Associate Professor Tatsuo Oida and Associate Professor Tomio Shimizu. The thesis is concerned with the preparation of dicarboxylic acid - type Gemini.

The author would like to express her grateful acknowledgement to Professor Tokuzo Kawase, Associate Professor Tatsuo Oida and Associate Professor Tomio Shimizu for the sincere instructions which have been indispensable to the completion of the present thesis. Especially, the author wish to express her sincere gratitude to Professor Tokuzo Kawase and Associate Professor Tatsuo Oida for their practical guidances and helpful discussions as well as their encouragements during her undergraduate and graduate study at Kyoto Institute of Technology.
